How Air Conditioning Works

Air conditioning systems remove heat and humidity from indoor spaces, circulating cooled air to maintain a consistent temperature. Modern units also filter airborne particles, improving indoor air quality while keeping rooms comfortable.

We install split units for single rooms, multi-split systems for whole homes or floors and ducted systems for larger residential or commercial spaces. Every install starts with a survey to size the unit correctly for the space. A unit that is too small will run flat out and never reach target temperature.

Our engineers are F-Gas certificated through REFCOM, so installation and refrigerant handling are signed off in line with UK regulations.

Benefits of Air Conditioning

Air conditioning provides immediate comfort, helps improve productivity in workplaces, and protects sensitive equipment and furnishings from heat damage. Energy-efficient models minimise running costs while delivering consistent cooling.

Types of Air Conditioning Systems

We install a range of systems, including split units, multi-split systems and ducted air conditioning, selected to suit your property layout and cooling requirements.

Air conditioning installation

Every install starts with a full assessment, ensuring optimal placement, airflow, and energy efficiency. The installation is carried out with minimal disruption and a focus on long-term performance.

Air conditioning service & maintenance

Regular maintenance, such as filter cleaning and system checks, ensures your air conditioning remains efficient and reliable throughout its lifespan.

Manufacturers including Mitsubishi Electric recommend at least annual servicing for air conditioning units to maintain efficiency, keep manufacturer warranties valid and prevent breakdowns.

Frequently Asked Questions

For most homes in England, an external air conditioning unit falls under permitted development and does not need planning permission, provided it meets the conditions on size, position and noise set out in the General Permitted Development Order. Listed buildings, properties in conservation areas and some flats are excluded.

Yes – air-conditioning systems remove excess moisture, making the indoor environment more comfortable and reducing mould risks.

At least once a year is the manufacturer recommendation for domestic systems, regular servicing keeps the system efficient and ensures clean, healthy airflow. Heavily used or commercial systems may benefit from twice-yearly servicing. Annual servicing is also a condition of most manufacturer warranties.

No – current systems are highly efficient and generally cost less to run than older units or portable air conditioners.

Yes. Most modern domestic units are reversible heat pumps, so the same system that cools in summer can heat in winter. For whole-home heating, a dedicated air source heat pump is usually the better choice as it integrates with central heating and hot water.

Modern domestic systems are designed to run quietly. Mitsubishi publishes sound pressure levels for each indoor and outdoor unit on the product spec sheet, which we share at quote stage so you know what to expect for the model recommended for your property.

An air conditioning unit (sometimes called an air-to-air heat pump) heats or cools the air directly in the room it is installed in. An air source heat pump (air-to-water) heats your central heating water and feeds radiators, underfloor heating or a hot water cylinder for whole-home warmth.
